
The tidal tail of this spiral galaxy, photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope, is a clear sign of a gravitational interaction between galaxies. Recently, researchers have proposed tidal interactions as the possible cause of a dwarf galaxy that harbors an outsize black hole — one nearly as massive as the Milky Way's central black hole but in a galaxy more than 10,000 times less massive.
