Needed: Judges for Student Posters at the Seattle AAS Meeting

Gina Brissenden American Astronomical Society (AAS)

The AAS Executive Office is seeking members — a couple hundred or so! — to judge posters for the Chambliss Astronomy Achievement Student Awards at the 225th AAS meeting in Seattle, Washington, in January 2015. Volunteers will be asked to evaluate no more than five undergraduate- and/or graduate-student posters according to defined criteria. (We'll use the new, simplified scoring criteria that were introduced at the 224th meeting in Boston.)

Attention junior members: Advanced graduate students who have finished their coursework and are working on their dissertation research are eligible to judge undergraduate posters.

Student poster authors will sincerely appreciate your expertise in judging their work. Judging will occur on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 5, 6, and 7 January 2015, at convenient times.

You can easily sign up to volunteer while registering for the meeting or submitting your own abstract. If you’ve already registered or submitted an abstract and didn’t volunteer, it’s not too late! Just contact me via email. Same goes if you have any questions.
