Education Sessions and Activities at AAS 243

On behalf of the AAS Executive Office, I’m looking forward to welcoming you to New Orleans for the 243rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society! I’ve worked with the AAS Education Committee to compile the following schedule of nearly everything focused on astronomy education and some adjacent topics at the New Orleans meeting. Especially consider joining us for the following activities organized by the Education Committee:
- The AAS Educators’ Reception is on Monday night, 8 January, from 6:30 to 7:45 pm. All astronomy educators are welcome; the event will be lightly catered with hot appetizers and should be a high-quality networking session.
- Our Special Session on Undergraduate and Graduate Preparation for Careers in Astronomy/Astrophysics is Monday morning, 8 January, from 10:00 to 11:30am. We will be hosting a discussion and listening session on the community's needs in astronomy education.
- For those arriving early to New Orleans, please join our public Eclipse Outreach Event on Saturday, 6 January, from 9:30am–3:00pm, at the local Kenner Planetarium. We invite you to collaborate with us on helping to prepare the New Orleans community for the upcoming 8 April 2024 solar eclipse.
